Two twin rooms, each with its own character. Twin 1 is warm and soft - green velvet, peach accents, brass pendants. Twin 2 is bolder - deep burgundy, graphic Moroccan patterns, the kind of room that has a point of view.

Two rooms, one spirit

Two floors,
two perspectives

Twin 1 wraps you in warmth. The green velvet headboard - a single curved form shared between two beds - anchors the room without dividing it. Two perfectly proportioned single beds, each dressed in the same crisp white linen, each with its own side table, its own lamp, its own small world within the shared one. The brass pendants above are shaped like Moroccan lanterns. At night, when lit, they cast a perforated light across the ceiling - tiny points of gold against the white, like a private sky.

Twin 2 makes a different argument entirely. The deep burgundy of the bedding is not a colour that apologises for itself. The geometric diamond pattern on the cushions and the bed runner is drawn from the same mathematical logic as the zellige tilework beneath your feet - the same shapes, translated into fabric, scaled up, made soft. It is a room for people who prefer their comfort with a little conviction behind it.

The bathroom is the same in both rooms - and it earns its place. Travertine stone, warm and striated, carved into a sink that sits like a piece of furniture. Brass fittings throughout. A rain shower behind glass. The carved wooden door that leads back into the room is original to the riad - one of the many things that was here long before we arrived and will be here long after we leave.

The backlit mirror catches the morning light from the window opposite. There is a particular pleasure in getting ready slowly in a room like this, with nowhere to be until you decide to be somewhere.
